Graphite Design Tour AD VR Wood Shaft- DEMO SHAFT
Description
Design & Construction
-
Made in Japan using high-modulus, aerospace-quality carbon fiber.
-
Finished in a dark-blue color with subtle white and silver accents and matte clear coat.
-
Built with Graphite Design’s proprietary technologies for performance and consistency:
-
Fast Taper Technology (FTT): a faster taper from the grip down into the lower mid-section for increased clubhead control and potential clubhead speed.
-
TORAYCA® T1100G carbon fiber with Nanoalloy® in the tip region for extra stability, precise ball control, and a consistent feel through impact.
-
Material-stiffness layering (“MSI” philosophy): the shaft varies stiffness along its length to fine-tune flex, energy transfer, and shot behavior.
-
Flex Profile & Feel
-
Handle (butt) section: firm to stiff — provides stability and control through the swing.
-
Mid-section: medium to medium-firm — balances smooth loading with control.
-
Tip section: firm — helps reduce unwanted torque at impact, delivering a stable, controlled strike.
This profile delivers a controlled, stable feel, with less “whip” than lightweight shafts. It emphasizes precision and repeatability over maximum tip kick or snap.
Performance: Launch, Spin, Flight
-
Launch: Mid to mid-high — the shaft is designed to help get the ball airborne while still maintaining control.
-
Spin: Typically low — this helps produce a more penetrating, controlled ball flight, which is often desirable for players who want distance and tight dispersion rather than a high, floating shot.
-
Trajectory & Flight: The combination of mid-high launch and low spin tends to yield a penetrating, controlled ball flight with good carry and roll potential, especially in normal to windy conditions.
Shaft Specifications & Options
The Tour AD VR series offers a broad range of weight and flex options to match different swing speeds and preferences:
-
Weight classes: from ~40 g up to ~80–85 g
-
Flexes available: R2, R1 (light/regular), S (stiff), and X (extra-stiff) depending on weight class
Tip diameter is typically standard (.335″), making it compatible with most modern driver or fairway wood heads.
Intended Player Profile
This shaft is ideal for mid- to high-speed swingers who want consistency, control, and a stable, penetrating ball flight. Because of its firm profile and stable tip, it is best suited for players who:
-
Prefer a controlled, repeatable feel through the swing.
-
Want a mid-to-high launch with low spin for distance and accuracy.
-
Value precision over maximum tip “kick” — often better for more experienced golfers rather than beginners who might rely on more active shafts for forgiveness.
-
Are comfortable with stiffer shafts and less “whip” or “kick” at impact.
What “DEMO SHAFT” Means
A “demo shaft” typically comes from club-fitting sessions: it may have been installed and removed, but hasn’t necessarily been used extensively on-course. The construction, materials, and performance characteristics are identical to a brand-new retail shaft. The main difference is cosmetic — small handling marks or light wear — and the lower price, often making it a cost-effective way to get a high-end shaft.
